Nicola-Amy
Nicola-Amy moves between cloth and choreography, treating both as ways of making something felt. A textiles designer by training (BA Textiles Design & Innovation, Loughborough) and a movement guide by instinct, she was raised in the rhythms of West African dance and has spent almost four years teaching full-time.
Her practice took shape during a placement year in Frankfurt, where free-flowing movement and breath became a way of finding her footing. That year fed her final projects on the body, the skin and emotion, and a working life spent making creative space for mental wellbeing. This includes a year as an Art Peer Support with Mind and a workshop with BWA Network at Southbank Centre.
Her sessions begin with unfiltered movement and end on paper: feeling first, then drawing with the non-dominant hand, sometimes blindfolded. Expect rhythm, heritage, sensory curiosity and a room where everyone belongs.
